To be successful, an Entrepreneur needs to have perseverance. You need to have a drive and desire to succeed despite the odds you might face. An entrepreneur leader continues because you are determined to, not because you are entitled to.
Definition of Perseverance for an Entrepreneur
I took three definitions from different dictionaries, but you can see they are all the same:
1) Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
2) Steady persistence in adhering to a course of action, a belief, or a purpose; steadfastness.
3) To persist in or remain constant to a purpose, idea, or task in the face of obstacles or discouragement.
It’s about being relentless in your efforts to achieve your goals, your purpose.
Entrepreneurs Win Each Race
Life is not one long race, but rather a series of short races. And, each race is different.
The key to success is running the race each day.
Did Christopher Columbus quit his voyage regardless of the daily challenges that arose? No.
Despite running out of food and water, major storms and the threat of mutiny, he persevered,
and wrote in his log that they ‘stayed on course’.
Did the Wright brothers quit? Did Nelson Mandela quit? How about Lance Armstrong?
These people fought and raced against the most challenging odds.
Quitters never win. Winners never quit!
Entrepreneur is Committed to Success
Perseverance is a trait that can be cultivated. But, perseverance has two enemies:
1.) a lifestyle of giving up
2.) a wrong belief that life should be easy
Perseverance is stopping not because you are tired, but because you are done.
When you are fresh, you work with diligence and fervor, and only when you
become weary do you rely on perseverance.
Don’t underestimate what it takes to succeed.
It takes a total commitment.
Perseverance means more than trying or working hard.
It’s a commitment to put all you have into something until you succeed.
Those who endure and persevere are the ones who will win the prize.
Commit to persevere no matter what. It will transform your life.
Work hard. Seek wisdom. Help others.
All these things are an investment in yourself.
If you do, your success is guaranteed.
